hoopla

So, I'm a few months into my internship and I am already WAAAAYYYY behind. It's bad too, because I'm so busy that I'm not worried about it. I need to be worried about it!! This is a class with tons of papers, observations, etc...and it counts for 6 hours of credit! I'll be mad at myself if I blow my 4 point in grad school just because I was busy and tired of school.

- Anyway, tomorrow we start cooking again. This time it's with my spring semester students. There are a few that I'm a liiiittle worried about...but that's just between me and you.
- The week after cooking lab is the week of cheer tryouts. I'm excited about this because last year all of this happened before I was hired.
- The week after tryouts is the week of spring break! whoohoooo!!! I have no plans but I am still completely excited! I'll probably just spend the week getting caught up (and hopefully ahead) with my aforementioned internship work...maybe get a hair cut...who knows - I'm living on the edge.

OH! Side note - I'm glad Quest Crew won America's Best Dance Crew, but I'm sad Beat Freaks lost...both groups were awesome! This show makes me wish there was some dance studio who had hip-hop classes for adults - just for exercise and fun - no need for recitals and all that hoopla.

My student quote for this post is the answer that was given on a test:
Q: When is a time you may feel more than one emotion? Explain.
A: All I can say is, every rose has it's thorn.

That's all for now. Goodnight.

the basics...

right now, i'm working on my last final (due today). after today i will only have one more semester of grad school left - which is internship (my job).

i'm getting ready for my last week of school before christmas break!! this means i actually made it through my first semester teaching 8th graders. the good news is that i still love my job...even though its the most draining and stressful job i've ever had. we're finishing up our final unit, clothing. my students have learned the basics about clothing and sewing and now they have pillows to show for it.

this is how basic some class discussions were:
8th grader: "what?! cotton doesn't grow on sheep??"
me: "no! cotton comes from the cotton plant, wool comes from sheep"

51 states?

Update:
My girls recieved 1st place in their division at competition and also recieved 1st place overall! I'm so very proud of them!

Thanksgiving break starts Tuesday. When we come back it's time to get ready to sew some pillows.

"You're the skinniest teacher I have!"
"I thought there were 51 states...then someone told me that the Bahama's aren't part of the United States."

...8th graders are something else...

sink it!

Lets all take a moment to be thankful for the AEA, and the huge conference that is tomorrow - (as well as not having school tomorrow because of it!!) yeahhhh!

Saturday is my first competition on the coaching side. My girls have been working so hard, I know they'll do great and make me proud. This competition has been adding stress to my life, so I'm kind of ready for the relief that will come my way around 11:05 a.m. that day.

Gearing up for basketball season:
"do it like the army does - shoot it, shoot it; do it like the navy does...sink it!" haha.

goodnight.

what doesn't kill...right?

i've been feeling overwhelmed these days - as though i have way too much on my plate and that maybe i've gotten myself in over my head.

however, i know i will survive...
(what doesn't kill, makes stronger)

25 days til Halloween
52 days til Thanksgiving
80 days til Christmas

as bad as i sometimes want to count down the days, i need to resist that temptation and live for today, focusing on the blessings that each one is bringing.
